management tasks
- Planning for laboratories, setting their work programs, and preparing estimated budgets for their annual needs of equipment, materials and tools in order to achieve the efficiency of their operation and the safety of their results.
- Keeping national measurement imams and references and issuing approved calibration certificates.
- Follow up the examination and analysis processes for all local and imported industrial products, materials and supplies that are required to be examined and analyzed in coordination with the departments of the authority concerned with standards, metrology and industrial inspection.
- Issuing reports on the results of examinations and analyzes carried out by the department's laboratories in its various fields of work.
- Providing technical services to government agencies and industrial and craft establishments regarding the services they require related to laboratory tests and analyses.
- Participation and coordination with the concerned departments of the authority in setting and monitoring the application of standards.
- Suggest fees for services to be collected in exchange for tests and analyzes carried out by laboratories, and follow up on their approval by the concerned levels according to the schedules of authorities and powers.
- Cooperating with the laboratories of local and international authorities and specialized centers in conducting examinations and analyzes and the mutual dependence of the results of these examinations.
- Estimating the needs of the laboratories affiliated with the Authority in terms of equipment, materials and other technical elements and working to provide them in coordination with the relevant departments of the Authority. It also ensures the efficiency of their operation and the safety of their production.
Achievements
- The Department of Quality Laboratories obtained a certificate of quality management systems in accordance with the requirements of the international standard (ISO 9001: 2000) on 27/1/2007
- It was renewed on March 29, 2010 in accordance with the requirements of the updated specification (ISO 9001: 2008).
- The department also obtained the Occupational Health and Safety Management System Certificate in accordance with the requirements of the British Standard (OHSAS BS 18001: 2007) and the Environmental Management Systems Certificate in accordance with the International Standard (ISO 14001: 2004).
- Work is currently underway to qualify the six laboratories of the department to obtain the international accreditation certificate for the competence and efficiency of laboratories in accordance with the requirements of the international standard ISO/IEC 17025:2005. The number of tests and calibrations, as the laboratories obtaining this certificate will achieve the following advantages:
- First: The accreditation is granted to the Quality Laboratories Department of international recognition and credibility in the performance of its work and that it is internationally competent and competent, in addition to granting it international recognition for the results of its services contained in the reports and certificates issued by it among all similar international bodies.
- Second: Accreditation enhances the ability and ability of quality laboratories to provide reliable services while ensuring their satisfaction to the customer.
- Third: Accreditation of the technical competence and merit of quality laboratories and increases the competence and efficiency of workers in the performance of their work.
- Fourth: Accreditation facilitates the process of trade exchange and reduces technical obstacles to trade, through the mutual recognition of international bodies granting accreditation certificates.
- Fifth: This accreditation will have a direct, positive impact on the ability of Kuwaiti products to export to the Gulf and international markets, while reducing the cost associated with repeating testing and calibration work in the countries to which they are exported through international recognition of the results issued by them. . Sixth: Accreditation will play a major role in enhancing the ability of the State of Kuwait to participate effectively in the Gulf and internationally in the field of conformity verification.
